To make these work with your smart home, we use Zigbee or Wi-Fi controllers tied right into the power. You hit a “Winter Mode” button on your phone, the circuit closes, and you’re warm. Simple. But here’s the tricky part: inrush current. High-wattage lamps pull a massive amount of power the second they kick on. If you use a cheap relay, it’ll fry in six months. We use beefier parts that can handle those spikes, so your setup actually lasts. You can even link them to motion sensors, so the heat is waiting for you the moment you walk into the room.
A Quick Heads-Up on Installation
Because these units are sealed tight to keep water out, they can trap heat inside the housing. Give them some breathing room. If you jam the heater into a tiny, cramped ceiling soffit with no airflow, you’re probably going to trip the thermal cutoff. Keep the area clear, let the unit breathe, and your lamps will live a lot longer.
