Putting an infrared heater in a bathroom or shower is a bit of a gamble. You’re basically mixing high-voltage electricity with steam and splashing water. The deal with thermal shock
Here is the scary part: if a single drop of cold water hits a standard quartz tube while it’s glowing hot, the glass can literally shatter. It happens because the glass shrinks too fast in one spot while the rest stays hot. We solve this by using reinforced quartz with a protective outer layer. It’s a safety net. If the internal filament happens to burn out, the tube stays in one piece. No glass shards raining down on you while you’re trying to dry off.
Keeping the water out
You’ll see “IP55” on the spec sheet. In plain English? It means the unit can handle dust and water jets hitting it from any angle without freaking out. We make this happen with heavy-duty gaskets and sealed wiring points that don’t melt or shrink after a few months of heat. Water getting into the electrical terminals is the fastest way to blow a fuse or cause a short circuit. A solid seal keeps the guts of the heater dry and safe.
A quick word on heat
These lamps are great because they give you that instant, cozy warmth the second you flip the switch. You don’t have to wait for the whole room to warm up. But remember, this heat is intense. If you mount the heater too close to cheap plastic trim or PVC, you’re going to see some warping. Just make sure your wall or ceiling can handle the heat. And please, do this the right way: wire these into a dedicated circuit with a proper GFCI breaker. The reinforced glass keeps the tube from breaking, but it won’t fix a sloppy electrical job.
